Roj Women’s Association is recruiting a ‘Specialist Bilingual Domestic Violence Worker’ for a new service to provide VAWG support for Kurdish and Turkish women/girls living in Hackney, Haringey and Enfield.   The specialist worker is expected to provide high quality advocacy and support to women/girls experiencing domestic violence as well as working with the survivors of violence who have ongoing issues.  You will work in partnership with other agencies to develop and deliver risk management plans to ensure women safety.   The post holder is expected to provide one to one crises intervention, holistic casework support including referrals to the organisation’s therapeutic support service based on the needs of the individual women.

You will be responsible for advocating on behalf of survivors of domestic violence in a range of settings and managing and reviewing their cases. The successful candidate will have significant proven experience of providing emotional and practical support to survivors of domestic violence with the ability to speak good English and with the ability to speak Kurdish and Turkish.

You will understand the legal system in how it relates to survivors of domestic violence and have strong communication skills to deliver presentations and reports to stakeholders effectively. An ability to work independently and prioritise a busy workload is essential.

Applicants will need to have very good experience of working with women/girls experiencing domestic violence either in current or previous role.   An individual who is highly skilled on advice, information and advocacy relating to domestic violence as well as on related areas such as housing, welfare benefits, domestic violence, health and education.

An understanding of the issues affecting women, particularly those form Kurdish and Turkish background as well as the skills and ability to conduct casework in a sensitive and professional manner are essential requirements for the post.

Specialist Bilingual Domestic Violence Worker will work for, 21 hrs per week, Salary: £25,200 £27, 00 pro rata (Fixed Term Contract until 31st October 2021)
